Primary School Sport Descriptions

Athletics
Athletics takes place in the 1st term for grade 1 – 7 learners.
We compete in the Kwena Cluster, competing against surrounding schools.
Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
u/10 – u/13 participate in APO trials for the opportunity to obtain their North West provincial colors.
Grade 1 -3 (u/7 – u/9) events: 60m and 80m.
Grade 4 – 7 (u/10 –u/13) events: 80m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 1200m, 1500m, Hurdles, High Jump, Long jump and Shot Put.

Bulletjie Rugby & 7’s Rugby
Bulletjie rugby takes place in the 2nd term for all grade 1 – 2 boys (u/7 – u/8).
Our bulletjies play rip rugby and do not play tackle rugby, as it is complex and dangerous for beginners.
We focus on the key fundamentals of Bulletjie rugby which gives every player the chance to have fun and develop within the rules, rather than games that are controlled by winning motives.  Most matches takes place on Saturdays.
7’s Rugby takes place in the 2nd term for all grade 3 – 7 boys (u/9 – u/13).
The boys enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere playing 7’s rugby than in a fifteen-a-side game.
Most matches are played during the week and on Saturdays.
Training days take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Please note that rugby will only be subject to interest from players.

Cross country
Cross country takes place in the 3rd term for grade 1 – 7 learners (u/7 – u/13).
We have an annual cross country Inter-house event where our 3 houses battle it out against each other for the Inter-house cross country Cup to the winning team and a Spirit cup to the house with the most spirit.
Annually we host a friendly meeting at school, inviting surrounding schools in our area.
Meetings take place on Fridays.
Training days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mini-Cricket & Cricket
Mini-cricket takes place in the 3rd term for all Grade 1 and 2 boys (u/7 – u/8).
We take part in the KFC mini-cricket league and play friendly matches against schools in our surrounding area.
Most matches take place on Saturday mornings.
Mini-cricket training days are on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Cricket is available to all grade 3 – 7 boys (u/9 – u/13).
We play against surrounding schools in the area.
Training days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. When the boys are not practicing, they will play matches during the week.

Mini-netball & Netball
Mini-netball takes place during the 2nd term for all gr. 1 – 3 girls (u/7 – u/9).
As per SASN rules, we have a rotation policy where every girl gets the opportunity to play every position, giving every player the chance to have fun and develop within the rules, rather than games that are controlled by winning motives.
Matches are played during the week when our league matches take place for the older age groups.
Training days take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Netball is available to all grade 4 – 7 girls (u/10 – u/13).
We take part in the Madibeng Netball League, playing against surrounding schools in the area and in Brits.
Chosen u/12 and u/13 girls take part in Netball trials for the opportunity to obtain their North West provincial colors.
Coaches consist of teachers of our school who has experience in coaching netball.
Training days take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Matches take place during the week.

Mini-soccer & Soccer
Mini-soccer is played in the 2nd term and is available to gr. 1 and 2 boys (u/7 – u/8).
Mini-Soccer is subject to the interest from our learners and will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We play matches against schools in our area and we take part in the Magalies League.
Soccer is available to grade 3 – 7 boys (u/9 – u/13).
We take part in the Magalies 11-a-side league and in the SACSSA 6-a-side league.
Most matches are played during the week and tournaments take place on Saturdays.

Mini-Hockey & hockey
Mini-hockey is a 3rd term sport and is available to grade 1 – 4 girls (u/7 – u/10).
u/7 and u/8 girls play 6-a-side and u/9 and u/10 play 8-a-side per team.
We have a rotation policy where every girl gets the opportunity to play every position, giving every player the chance to have fun and develop within the rules, rather than games that are controlled by winning motives.
Hockey is available to grade 5 -7 girls (u/11 – u/13) and play 11-a-side per team.
We play in the Brits Circle League.
Mini-hockey and hockey matches are played during the week.
Practice days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

High School Sport Descriptions

Netball
Netball takes place in the 2nd term and is available to gr. 8 – 12 girls (u/14 –u/18).
We play in the Magalies League and matches take place on Wednesdays.
Training days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The girls take part in Netball trials during the season for the opportunity to obtain their North West provincial colors.

Soccer
Soccer takes place in the 2nd term and is available to gr.8 – 12 boys (u/14 – u/18).
We play in the Magalies 11-a-side league, as well as the SACSSA 6-a-side league.
Most matches are played on Wednesdays, with tournaments taking place on Saturdays.
Training days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Athletics
Athletics takes place in term 3 and is available to gr.8 -12 boys and girls (u/14 – u/18).
The following items are available: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, Javelin and Discus.
We take part in the SACSSA league, competing against different provinces as well.
Training days are on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Meetings are mostly on weekends.

Our 3 Houses

When learners are enrolled into our school, they get placed into a house:

Hawk (green), Eagle (yellow) or Falcon (red).

When hosting an inter-house event at school, the 3 houses battle it out for a chance to win the House Cup and or the Spirit cup.
